The Golden Rule

“Treat others as you would like to be treated”

life domain model

This is a concept I learned about recently, and I have to say, it’s class.

life domain framework is a tool or model used to help individuals assess, organize, and improve different areas (or “domains”) of their life.

It breaks life into key categories that influence overall well-being, fulfillment, and functioning. This approach is used in coaching, therapy, personal development, and even workplace well-being programs.

A typical domain framework includes the following.

1. Health & Physical Well-being

Exercise, nutrition, sleep, medical health

2. Work & Career

Job satisfaction, career growth, work-life balanc

3. Relationships & Social Life

Family, friendships, romantic relationships, community

4. Finances

Income, savings, debt, financial planning

5. Personal Growth & Learning

Education, skills development, mindset, self-awareness

6. Spirituality & Values

Religion, ethics, purpose, meaning

7. Leisure & Recreation

Hobbies, travel, fun, relaxation

8. Environment

Living space, safety, comfort, surroundings

9. Contribution & Service

Giving back, helping others, legacy

Why Use It?

Self-assessment: Identify areas of satisfaction vs. dissatisfaction

Goal-setting: Prioritize and set specific objectives in each area

Balance: Prevent over-investing in one domain at the expense of others

Personal alignment: Live more intentionally according to values

When completing this I found that some areas I am excelling at, and some areas need work. Also, you can apply a weighting to each area. 1-4 have the highest weighting for me. They have a significant impact on my overall wellbeing, including how I see myself and how I feel about my life.

I’m sharing this as a simple tool to for you to do the same assessment I did. I hope it helps.
