The Golden Rule

“Treat others as you would like to be treated”

Everyone has a favourite. It usually comes down to Sean or Daniel. Two different interpretations of the character, but both the most impactful of all those to have played 007.

It comes as no surprise that the two favourites have made 11 films collectively. Sean started the films in 1962 and Daniel concluded them in 2021. It is my belief that Bond won’t be the same under Amazon ownership. Denis Villeneuve has directed successful movies with a troubled lead character. But this is different.

Will Bond be a field agent in an Amazon owned world. Or will he be working from home, dinner jacket gathering dust, as he receives a prime order of component parts to make his own Martini’s?

His Aston Martin replaced by an Uber account, and his Omega is gone, and in its place a Garmin. Bonds step count now more important than his body count…

Whilst Bond is primarily for the boys, his backstory makes him relatable to everyone.

American author Jack London was quoted at the wake of 007 in the last movie. “ The proper function of man is to live not to exist I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time”.

A great quote to have chosen. Bond was never concerned with just existing. Cause and country always came first. He gave himself to protect the latter. Protecting what we care for and defending our way of life, remains incredibly important in 2025.

As I read about Tom Holland being a suitor for the vacant 007 seat, my thoughts wander to the title of his first film. Dr No way, No time to try or perhaps Blunderball.

Spectre will be licking their lips…
