The Golden Rule

“Treat others as you would like to be treated”

pairings #2

It really wouldn’t be a Sunday morning for me without three of four things. A coffee, the Sunday times, a cigar and a fire. Today I don’t need number four, as it is pleasant enough outside.

I always start with the style supplement. Such a brilliantly put together magazine. Every week they find things of interest and appeal. Kudos.

The coffee is ready, so let me tell you about the blend today. Knowing what I will smoke, I’ve chosen a soft and delicate blend, with berries and spice added with insouciance. A medium roast with a 3/5 strength. Identical to the cigar. (Duchy organic blend coffee).

The leaf is a classic. Partagas Serie D. No.4 is the most commercially successful cigar in the world. It’s A) a robusto, B) full bodied, but C) not a strong blend. Perfect for any part of the day.

On the palette it’s woody and leathery with a profile destined for a coffee pairing. The brand itself has a big history. Founded in the mid 19th century, it is one of the oldest Cuban cigar brands. Its story even involves the mysterious disappearance of its founder. Gone. In a cloud of cigar smoke!

Today, like most others, it is part of Habanos S.A. The state owned production company for Cuban cigars.
If you are new to cigars. This is a great entry level smoke. It won’t hurt the pocket, and it will be a great introduction to this unique sensory experience.

With that I am gone.

Aroma and out.
