The Golden Rule

“Treat others as you would like to be treated”

People think drinking is an escape. Which it can be. I say it’s a prison. Eventually.

Many things are for reasons and seasons. Drinking is for the summer season of life.

Drinking after 40 is a fools game. At 40 you don’t need social lubricants. You have developed skills that can replace the need for alcohol.

Here are some reasons why it’s a fools game.

1. Slower Metabolism and Liver Function

Reduced Liver Efficiency: The liver’s ability to process alcohol decreases, leading to higher blood alcohol concentrations.

Slower Metabolism: Overall metabolic slowdown means alcohol lingers longer, increasing its toxic effects.

2. Muscle and Fat Changes

Higher Body Fat Percentage: As muscle mass declines and body fat increases, alcohol is absorbed differently, leading to stronger and longer-lasting effects.

3. Hormonal Shifts

Testosterone and Estrogen: Hormone levels fluctuate, which can amplify the mood-altering effects of alcohol and increase belly fat.

4. Sleep Disruption

Less Restorative Sleep: Alcohol interferes with deep sleep and REM cycles, which are already more fragile with age.

5. Cardiovascular Impact

Higher Blood Pressure: Chronic drinking can raise blood pressure and stiffen arteries, increasing heart disease risk.

6. Cognitive Decline

Brain Aging: Regular drinking can accelerate cognitive decline, affecting memory, focus, and mood.

7. Immune System Effects

Weakened Immune Response: Alcohol can weaken the immune system, making it harder to fight off infections.

Don’t escape your reality, escape the prison of alcohol. I have. Not only am I more productive, I’m more consistent both in life and in the gym. If you need an escape, go there. Nothing to lose, but not only muscle to gain.

Think about it.
