The Golden Rule

“Treat others as you would like to be treated”

nothing to fear

You have no doubt heard people say ‘they conquered their fear’. Whilst this is unlikely to be true, why would you want to?

Fear is to be managed, not conquered.

I don’t know an emotion that motivates humans more than fear. Sure, it’s powerful, but harnessing it puts you in control of that power.

Many emotions unchecked become stressors. I would suggest that either give power or take power from people and situation’s.

Perhaps it is age, but perhaps it is experience. Either way, I operate in the presence of fear. It’s the reason people climb with a harness or raft with a life jacket. It needs to be present to make us feel alive.

I have a saying that I where on my wrist each day. Manere Parartus – confidence in preparation. It’s not about preparing to win, it’s about preparing to lose also. I don’t want outcomes to be a shock. I want to harness the fear of failure and try and either soften the impact or work out a way to turn it around.

Something to think about, as we return to work from a long weekend in the UK.
