The Golden Rule

“Treat others as you would like to be treated”

the messy debate

I’ll let you in on a little secret. Men are tidier than women.

Studies suggest that we perceive cultural norms of women cleaning, that links back to historical gender roles.

Like with many things in life. Personality traits, play a role.

Women on average clean more, but individual personality is more important than gender.

I had a recent discussion with both a man and a women about organisation and planning, and both saw the two things as similar but different.

Both saw organisation as important, but it was the man who saw the need to be organised, of greater importance.

Speaking from my own experience, I find organisation incredibly gratifying and soothing to the soul. Many of the women I have spent time with or lived with didn’t.

This is not to say that I am right and they are wrong, but the behavioural difference was not a surprise to me, based on experience.

It is my observation that men have less ‘things’ than women and as a consequence have places for things and habits that align better with a tidy existence.

What is your experience?
